UnitingCare Australia commends InspectorGeneral’s first Progress Report on aged care reform
UnitingCare Australia commends the release of the first Progress Report by the InspectorGeneral of Aged Care, Natalie Siegel-Brown, on the implementation of recommendations from the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety.
“We thank the Inspector-General for undertaking this important work,” said Claerwen Little, National Director of UnitingCare Australia. “This is a significant milestone in the reform journey of Australia’s aged care system, and we look forward to engaging closely to create a system that older Australians can rely on.”
The release of the 2025 Progress Report outlines progress made against recommendations of the Aged Care Royal Commission. The report is both timely and pivotal, as the Aged Care Act 2024 comes into effect on 1 November 2025. Ms Siegel-Brown emphasised that swift and coordinated actions are required to ensure older Australians see real, tangible improvements in their daily lives.
“This Report is a clarion call,” she said. “This Report shines a light on both the progress to date and the work that lies ahead. Independent oversight is essential to ensuring reforms stay on track, and that older Australians remain at the centre of change,” said Claerwen Little, National Director of UnitingCare Australia.
The UnitingCare Aged Care Network reaffirmed its commitment to high quality, compassionate care, welcoming the Report’s focus on dignity and rights.
