UnitingCare Australia supports a stronger start to the new Aged Care Act

UnitingCare Australia welcomes today’s sensible decision to delay the commencement of the new Aged Care Act, recognising the opportunity it provides to ensure a well-prepared and effective transition.

Given the scale of change—particularly in the Support at Home program—this extra time will ensure the foundations are in place for a seamless implementation.

“Our commitment to these reforms remains steadfast. It is crucial that we maintain momentum and ensure that no-one takes their foot off the pedal. This change is about new and improved ways of delivering aged care, and we want to make sure that everything is in place for older Australians and providers to transition to a new system,” said Claerwen Little, National Director of UnitingCare Australia.

The UnitingCare network organisations are working hard to prepare for the transition and welcome the additional time to ensure complete readiness.

UnitingCare Australia and the UnitingCare network organisations remain dedicated to driving these essential reforms forward. We will continue to work closely with the Government to ensure that older Australians continue to receive the care, dignity and support they deserve.
