UnitingCare Australia welcomes financial wellbeing funding boost

UnitingCare Australia, the national body for the UnitingCare network, welcomes the announcement of an additional $114.8 million funding for financial wellbeing and capability programs across Australia.

“We welcome this significant funding announcement by Social Services Minister Amanda Rishworth and the Government’s response to urgent requests for assistance from the social service sector,” said Claerwen Little, UnitingCare Australia National Director and Chair of the National Coordination Group on Emergency and Food Relief.

“This much needed funding boost will go a long way to supporting our services who are struggling to keep up with increased demand, rising costs of service delivery and responding to more frequent natural disasters.

“The cost-of-living crisis is having a crushing impact on millions of people, and as the largest service delivery network in the country, UnitingCare Australia’s network members see every day the devastating effects of this on individuals, families and communities. This funding will help to address that.

“We look forward to working with the Government on further measures to ensure that all Australians can live a life of dignity and support themselves and their families.”
