UnitingCare Australia Welcomes Praise and Support for Aged Care
UnitingCare Australia thanks the Prime Minister and Minster for Aged Care for praising and supporting the amazing work of our aged care workforce.
“Aged care staff are some of the many unsung heroes of this crisis. These workers, just like other healthcare workers, are on the frontline every day, doing everything they can to protect our older people. We thank the Government for acknowledging their extraordinary efforts” said National Director, Claerwen Little.
“We believe that all people deserve to experience compassion and dignity as they age. They deserve to exercise their rights as full members of our society. And most of all they deserve the very best care.”
“We welcome the additional funding announced today to support our older Australians. This will help providers carry the additional costs incurred as we respond to the coronavirus crisis and help give peace of mind to families that their loved ones are getting the care they deserve” Ms Little said.
The Government today announced a draft COVID-19 Residential Care Visitor Access Code which will be open for consultation from today. UnitingCare Australia is a signatory on the draft document, which was endorsed by National Cabinet today.
“We welcome the opportunity to continue working with Government, providers, workers, families and, most importantly, our much-loved older people in the fight against coronavirus. Collectively we can get to the other side and be all together, once again.”
