Affordable Housing and Homelessness

UnitingCare Australia believes a secure, affordable and appropriate place to live is fundamental to a decent life.

A reasonable standard of housing, with secure tenure, is closely associated with positive health and wellbeing outcomes. Individuals with secure housing are well placed to participate in a positive way in employment, education and community activities.

In contrast, people who have low incomes, people who are homeless, or people in precarious forms of housing are more likely to enter and remain in a cycle of low income and poverty.

UnitingCare Australia believes that all people should have the chance to live in a place that supports opportunities for meaningful involvement in community, work and education
